Despite the somewhat disrupted start to the new school year we at the CBCA WA Branch are remaining positive and planning ahead. Bookings are now open for A Night with Our Stars scheduled for Friday 12 March with a stellar line up of guests ready to sparkle and entertain you. West Australian Young Readers' Book Award
West Australian Young Readers’ Book Award (WAYRBA) This local children’s choice book award has been running for 40 years. It is free to participate however schools and libraries can purchase merchandise. This year merchandise has been created by local author and illustrator, Kylie Howarth. The funds from these sales are our only income. The purpose of the Award is to promote reading for pleasure and aims to include Australian authors and illustrators where possible. to find out more please click Here

Have Sum Fun Face-to-face
The Have Sum Fun Competition is an exciting mathematics initiative that uses a quiz-night format. Teams of six students race against the clock to solve four intense rounds of eight challenging problems. Competitions run between Friday 12 March and Saturday 20 March 2021
Various locations throughout the Perth Metropolitan area, and Peel, South West, Great Southern and Pilbara regions.

Resources for National Anthem Change
From 1 January 2021, the second line of the Australian National Anthem was changed from ‘For we are young and free’ to ‘For we are one and free’. The Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison MP, said the change was made for all Australians. The Prime Minister's full media release is available on his website. Opportunities for WA Young People to be Heard and Celebrated
If you know a child or young person who is passionate about making their community a better place for others, please ask them to consider becoming one of my Change Champions. Each school term, starting Term 1 2021, participants will be asked a question like, What needs to change in your town for young people? All participants will go into a draw to win a $25 gift voucher, with four drawn each term.Find out more about Change Champions and encourage young people to take part.
Commissioner for Children and Young People Participate Award
The WA Youth Awards were established in 1999 to recognise young Western Australians aged 12 to 25 years for their achievements and contributions to the community.
