    • Assist with traffic control during afternoon school pickup

    Classroom and Specialist Teachers
    Classroom teachers are required to present purposeful educational programmes to classes allocated to them on the school timetable, and to participate in the general life of the School.


    Teachers must:



    • Use a diverse range of teaching methods relevant to the activities, interests etc. of the students

    • Establish learning expectations for students which are clear, challenging and achievable

    • Use ICT in the delivery of the teaching programme and as an administrative tool

    • Keep an open dialogue with parents as to class activities, programmes and expectations

    Studio Schools of Australia (SSA) was established in 2019 to bring about a “system” level change in secondary education for Indigenous students in remote communities across northern Australia. This “system level” reform is based on well-established evidence of what works for Indigenous students, their families and communities, in a scalable, proven work-related model of education introduced at the Yiramalay / Wesley Studio School in the Kimberley, Western Australia, in 2010.

    Overview


    This role ensures the day-to-day operation of the residential program, providing high-quality pastoral care, mentorship, and supervision to residential students. The Senior Residential Mentor will lead residential mentor staff, uphold child safety standards, and foster a culturally safe, trauma-informed environment aligned with SSA’s mission.


    The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and organisational skills, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to build trusting relationships with Aboriginal youth. A deep understanding of adolescent development and cultural connection is essential to support students in a residential setting.


    This is a full-time role which reports to the School Principal.


    Key Responsibilities


    1.      Leadership & Team Coordination




    • Act as the lead mentor for either the boys’ or girls’ residential cohort, overseeing daily operations and staff support.




    • Mentor and guide residential staff, including performance feedback and shift coordination.




    • Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders to implement policies, routines, and cultural programs.




    • Manage residential budgets and resources for assigned cohort.




    • Ensure compliance with national residential care standards and child protection policies.




    • Lead regular events (e.g., cultural celebrations, Mob Meetings). 




    2.      Pastoral Care & Student Wellbeing




    • Provide 24/7 supervision, including overnight duty, with a trauma-informed approach.




    • Establish gender-specific routines (e.g., wakeups, chores, study schedules) and promote personal development.




    • Address homesickness, conflicts, or behavioural issues with cultural sensitivity.




    • Support medical/health needs and liaise with wellbeing staff.




     3.      Residential Curriculum & Culture




    • Implement the Residential Learning Curriculum for your cohort, integrating academic, life skills, and cultural content.




    • Foster a positive, respectful living environment (e.g., room checks, community service tasks).




    • Organise gender-specific activities (sports, arts, mentoring circles).




     4.      Safety & Compliance




    • Report maintenance issues and maintain student records (attendance, incidents).




    • Enforce child protection policies and emergency procedures.

    The school:


    Strelley Community School is a remote Aboriginal Independent Community School located in the picturesque Pilbara region of Western Australia. Founded in 1976, the school proudly stands as the oldest continuously operating Independent Aboriginal Community School in Australia. It functions across two campuses:




    • Strelley (Yurtingunya): Situated 60km east of Port Hedland.




    • Warralong (Karntimarta): Located 160km southeast of Port Hedland.




    With approximately 60 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, the students are all ESL/EALD learners and from a mainly Nyangumarta language background. We deeply respect and embrace the language, culture, and history of our students and their community, integrating these elements into our learning programs. 


     


    The Role:


    We are offering a full-time Lower Primary teaching position (Years 2 to 4) at our Warralong campus commencing Term 3 2025. Contract terms are flexible and will be tailored to your availability, whether you prefer a contract for just Semester 2, 2025 or seek greater employment stability with an 18-month contract extending to the end of the 2026 school year.


    To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you will need to have:




    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Primary Education.




    • Current Teacher Registration with TRBWA.




    • A Working with Children clearance check (or the ability to obtain one).




    Additionally, you need to demonstrate:

    Overview


    The Nurse is responsible for delivering primary nursing care and managing related administrative duties across two school sites – Manjali Studio School and Yiramalay Studio School. This includes providing first aid, coordinating medical referrals, and supporting the overall health and wellbeing of all students.


    The position reports directly to the Principals of both schools.


    Operational Responsibilities




    • Provide high-quality first aid and initial clinical care to students in accordance with current guidelines and school protocols




    • Coordinate the safe transfer of students to the local clinic or hospital, including communication with caregivers and external health providers where appropriate




    • Manage the procurement, stock control, and replenishment of all medical supplies, including first aid kits and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) emergency kit




    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date medical records are maintained for all students, including health plans, allergies, medications, immunisations, and consent forms




    • Oversee the implementation and compliance of school health-related policies and procedures, including those related to first aid, anaphylaxis, asthma, and medication administration




    • Maintain the student medical database with confidentiality and accuracy, ensuring timely updates and regular audits




    • Monitor and service medical equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, maintaining a current register of equipment and service schedules




    • Complete all necessary occupational health and safety (OH&S) documentation for injuries or incidents involving students, staff, or visitors who attend the health office




    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory and mapped locations of all school medical equipment and supplies across campus and residences




    • Coordinate student health screening and immunisation programs in collaboration with local health authorities and relevant organisations




    • Provide medical support for school events, including on- and off-campus activities such as excursions, cultural camps, and sporting events




    • Ensure all excursions and camps are properly prepared, including verifying the adequacy of First Aid kits and receiving all relevant student medical information in either printed or digital format




    • Deliver internal health training sessions and refresher briefings to staff on topics such as First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma management in line with school and jurisdictional requirements




    • Assist with audits and compliance reporting as required by regulatory authorities or school governance processes

    Overview


    The Program Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality program of events, experiences, and activities that enhance the residential boarding experience for students. In collaboration with others, this includes building relationships with local organisations to facilitate engagement in activities, as well as coordinating staffing, transport, and risk management to ensure all programs are delivered safely and effectively.


    The activities program will focus on personal growth, health and wellbeing, leadership, resilience, community engagement, teamwork, and enjoyment. Activities may include on-country excursions, horse riding, sports training and competitions, games or trivia nights, house challenges, and leadership initiatives.


    The Program Activities Coordinator typically works after school hours, evenings, and weekends, as determined by operational needs in collaboration with the Wellbeing Services Coordinator. This position reports to the Principal and works closely with the broader staff team.

    • Design and implement a residential activities program focused on enhancing the physical and emotional wellbeing of students during afternoons, evenings, and weekends

    The Education Support Coordinator at Studio Schools of Australia plays a pivotal role in ensuring the educational success and well-being of students, particularly those with diverse learning needs.     The Indigenous Education and Research Centre (IERC) Program Manager is responsible for the planning and the daily operation of the IERC program. The role reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is based on country at the IERC which is co-located with the Manjali Studio School in the Kimberley.

    Overall Responsibilities




    • Planning and implementing programmes of supervision and care for children in the school’s residential care facility (Hostel).




    • Arranging activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of children in the Hostel




    • Ensuring students in the Hostel are washed, dressed, fed and ready for education and recreational activities




    • Supervising children during domestic activities such as eating meals and showering




    • Maintaining discipline, enforcing regulations and behaviour standards, compiling disciplinary reports and assisting in implementing remedial measures.




    General Duties



    • Support the Hostel Manager regarding House rules, regulations, and routines.

    • Adhere to security and safeguarding procedures.

    • Supervise student waking up and bedtimes and at other designated duty times, including evening and weekends.

    • Support the provision of evening and weekend academic and enrichment activities.

    • Promote good manners and courtesy from students including use of the common language of English.


    Students’ Health and Welfare



    • Attend to students’ minor medical needs including preparation of student medicines and treatments, and liaise with parents, teachers, the school nurse, and other staff concerning student wellbeing.

    • Conduct risk assessments and liaise with the Boarding Manager regarding Boarding Health & Safety.

    • Maintain accurate student records on data management system in accordance with changing medical needs, and inform staff of relevant information, for example allergies or medication.

    • Liaise with school nurse to maintain a stock of medicines and equipment.


    Maintenance and Laundry



    • Check all rooms for safety, state of repair and cleanliness on a regular basis.

    • Support boarding students in the use of laundry facilities and appropriate laundry practice.

    • Check Boarding facilities at the start and end of each term, reporting any maintenance issues to delegated authority.


    Other Responsibilities



    • Keep up to date with professional developments and attend relevant training.

    • Performs any other administration duties that are deemed appropriate to your role. 

    • Attendance at ALL Staff Devotions, Staff meetings as directed by the Principal.

    • Adhering to all the organisation’s policies and procedures including health and safety requirements.

    • Other duties as instructed by Hostel Manager as may be required.


    SALARY: $58 304 - $84 179 (Pro Rata According to qualifactions and experience)
