The Board of SMYL invites visionary and experienced educational leaders to apply for the position of College Principal. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a multi-campus, Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education (CARE) School, serving approximately 250 students in the southern suburbs of Perth.

Our college supports students who may not have experienced success in mainstream education, offering small class sizes, strong relational pedagogy, and individualised learning plans designed to help students build confidence and realise their full potential.
The Opportunity
As Principal, you will lead a passionate team of educators and staff across several campuses, driving strategic direction and operational excellence. You will:
- Execute the College’s Strategic Plan with a focus on innovation, inclusion, and student success.
- Provide strong educational leadership to foster high expectations, academic progress, and student wellbeing.
- Champion an industry-driven education model that connects education to the world of work through VET, school-based apprenticeships, and real-world learning.
- Mentor and empower staff to grow professionally within a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Build authentic relationships with students, families, staff, external partners, and the broader community.
- Oversee the operational and compliance aspects of a complex educational environment.
About You
You are a dynamic and compassionate leader who:
- Has a strong vision for education that supports diverse learners and promotes re-engagement.
- Brings demonstrated experience in education leadership.
- Possesses a deep understanding of curriculum, and vocational education.
- Has the organisational and business acumen to manage a complex school with multiple campuses.
- Can engage with diverse stakeholders including the Board, parents, industry, educational authorities and the broader community.
Key Requirements (Essential)
- Registration or eligibility for teacher registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA.
- Proven educational leadership experience in a school setting, with strong outcomes in student achievement and staff development.
- Deep understanding of vocational education and training (VET), and school-based apprenticeships.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead process improvement, change management, and strategic planning.
- Exceptional communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills.
- Current Working with Children Check and valid driver’s licence.
- Australian working rights.
Desirable
- Post graduate qualifications in Education or Educational Leadership.
- Knowledge of the Australian vocational and apprenticeship sectors.
