Kate Mullin Award 2019
The Kate Mullin Award aims to recognise and celebrate educators from any of the three WA school sectors of education, who demonstrate excellence in the teaching of English to Aboriginal students whose first language may be Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal Language or a creole such as the Kimberley Kriol. The educator can self-nominate or be nominated by a line-manager, colleague, student or community member.

Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards | $45,000 Teaching Fellowship open to Australia’s teachers and school leaders
Applications for the 2020 Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards are now open. An initiative Schools Plus runs in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank, the Awards celebrate great teaching and leadership in schools across Australia, recognising those who see education as inspiration and challenges as opportunities. The selected 12 outstanding teachers and school leaders will each receive a $45,000 Teaching Fellowship, which includes $10,000 to support their professional development, $25,000 for a major school project to improve outcomes for their students, and an overseas visit to a high-performing education system. Australian Government Draft Religious Freedom Bills
On 13 December 2018, the Prime Minister and the Attorney-General released the Report of the Religious Freedom Review
The Review made several recommendations and concluded that there is an opportunity to further protect and better promote freedom of religion under Australian law and in the community.
The Australian Government invites submissions on a package of legislative reforms on religious freedom. These are the:
• Religious Discrimination Bill 2019
• Religious Discrimination (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2019
• Human Rights Legislation Amendment (Freedom of Religion) Bill 2019.
