Kate Mullin Educator Award Flyer
The Kate Mullin Award has been created in memory of Kate Mullin, a passionate and visionary EALD consultant who made significant improvements in the teaching of Indigenous literacy in Western Australia. This award aims to recognise and celebrate educators who demonstrate excellence in the teaching of English to Aboriginal students, whose first language may be Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal Language or a creole such as the Kimberley Kriol. The educator can self-nominate or be nominated by a line-manager, colleague, student or community member. For more information, please click Here
Leavers 2022 Online Ticket Purchase Information
Leavers is an opportunity for Year 12 students from 2022 to celebrate the end of their schooling with their friends. To attend official Leavers WA events, attendees must:
1. Purchase a ticket online.
2. Present their ticket along with a current photo I.D at one of the Wristband Collections Points.
3. Have a staff member secure a wristband on your wrist.
Purchasing a ticket online will require your WA Student Number.

Celebrate Reading Conference in Fremantle, 28-29 October
The Literature Centre’s Celebrate Reading Conference will be held in Fremantle on 28-29 October 2022. Presenters include: Morris Gleitzman, Jackie French AM, Marc McBride, Kirli Saunders, Sean E. Avery, Cristy Burne, Gabriel Evans, Deb Fitzpatrick, James Foley, Dr Helen Milroy and Dianne Wolfer.
Delegates attend all panels and solos as there are no concurrent sessions. There will be discussions on key issues in Australian children's literature including: the importance of First Nations voices, writing for diverse learning abilities, history meets imagination, reaching the digital child with story, insights into creating new work, and more!
This conference will provide teachers the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of Australian picture books and junior fiction, particularly their importance in the classroom. There is a single day registration option at $330 per person or the full two day program for $550 per person (Standard).

Premiers Reading Challenge
The challenge will run from May to 9 September 2022. You can take part if you are in Kindergarten up to Year 10, whether you go to your local public school, private school or if you are educated at home. By taking part in the challenge and recording the books you've read, you will be in the running to win some fantastic prizes, including family holidays and experiences across Western Australia.
