Tuesday, 10 August 2021 is Census Night
The Census is a snapshot of who we are and tells the story of how we are changing. It takes the guesswork out of preparing for the future.
What if a school will be running a camp or overnight excursion on this night?
To make sure that everyone is counted in the Census, parents and/or guardians are advised to include their children on their Census form at home, as if they were at home on Census night. Students will not be counted at the camp or venue they are staying at on Census night. Any adults accompanying students on the camp or overnight excursion, including teachers and parents, will need to complete a Census form for themselves at the camp or excursion location. Census staff will arrange for delivery and collection of the Census forms for the adults to complete.
You can find resources for talking to your students about the Census at www.census.abs.gov.au including resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and international students.
