School Wellbeing Officer

Term 3 Relief Position (1.0 FTE)
Full-time or Job Share Considered
20th July – 25th September 2026

Perth Waldorf School teaches students from Kindergarten to Class 12 according to the educational indications of Rudolf Steiner. The Steiner curriculum is holistic, creative and developmentally informed, supporting young people through each stage of growth.

The Wellbeing Officer role supports student wellbeing, engagement and participation in school life across Classes 7–12, including students experiencing social, emotional or complex challenges. The position includes working with both vulnerable students and the “well child” — supporting young people to develop confidence, healthy relationships, resilience and a strong sense of belonging within the school community, while also appropriately identifying, supporting and case managing students who may be at risk.

A key aspect of the role is an active and visible presence in the school community. The successful applicant will build rapport and meaningful connections with students through engagement in classrooms, break times, activities and the broader daily life of the school. Working in partnership with teachers, the role supports students to participate positively in learning and access the classroom environment effectively.

The role may include:

  • Mentoring and wellbeing support for students
  • Supporting attendance, engagement and classroom participation
  • Case management and liaison with families and external agencies
  • Meeting with and communicating with parents/carers regarding wellbeing, progress and support planning
  • Risk assessment, identification of students at risk, and follow-through in collaboration with relevant staff, family and services
  • Supporting teachers with student wellbeing and engagement strategies
  • Referrals to external services where appropriate
  • Contributing to staff wellbeing and student support initiatives

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with adolescents and building authentic relationships
  • Demonstrates empathy, initiative and professional judgement
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with staff, families and students
  • Can work sensitively within complex situations
  • Is willing to engage constructively with Anthroposophy, Steiner education and the ethos of the school

A supportive handover process will be provided to assist the successful applicant in transitioning into the role.

For clarification or discussion about the position, please contact the Head of High School, Donna Kerr, via the school reception on 9417-3638.

Applications should include:

  • A cover letter (maximum two pages)
  • A current CV
  • Email addresses of at least 2 referees

Applicants must hold a valid Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain one) and have Australian residency or a valid visa with work rights in Australia. Relevant training and experience, such as the Gatekeeper Program and Circle of Security, will be viewed favourably.
