About the role
SCBC is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Education Assistant – Learning Support to join our Primary School team.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs within a nurturing Christian environment.
Working closely with classroom teachers and Learning Support staff, you will provide academic, behavioural, and wellbeing support to individual students and small groups, helping to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
Subject to a successful performance review, there may be an opportunity for the appointment to extend beyond the initial contract period.

Key responsibilities
- Provide academic, social, emotional, and behavioural support to students
- Assist with the implementation of Curriculum Adjustment Plans (CAPs) and Individual Education Plans
- Support student engagement and participation in learning activities
- Encourage student independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Assist teachers with behaviour support strategies and classroom routines
- Observe and communicate student progress and wellbeing concerns to staff
- Prepare learning resources and support materials as required
- Supervise students during designated activities, transitions, and excursions
About you
- Certificate IV in School Based Education Support (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioural needs
- Understanding of inclusive education practices and learning adjustments
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Warm, patient, and supportive approach with students
- Commitment to maintaining student dignity, safety, and wellbeing
Desirable:
- Experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, or language difficulties
- Familiarity with behaviour support frameworks and emotional regulation strategies
- Knowledge of current wellbeing and inclusion practices
Essential requirements
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
- Active participation in a church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices
- Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith
- Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents
- Commitment to personal best practice
- Ensure decisions are impartial, fact-based, and fair
- Model appropriate and proper channels of communication
- Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College’s values and policies
Possession of the following certifications:
- Working With Children Check
- National Police Clearance
- First Aid Certificate
