Description

This face-to-face professional learning session is designed for schools who want to move beyond theory and into real, workable practice. Teachers and wellbeing staff often understand the importance of respectful relationships education but feel stuck when it comes to implementation. Competing demands, parent concerns, leadership expectations, time pressures and student disengagement can all become barriers – particularly when responsibility feels siloed within specific roles.

This session creates space for honest discussion, shared problem-solving and practical strategy development. Participants will reflect on the specific challenges within their own school contexts and work collaboratively to identify realistic actions they can take immediately. Participants will engage in guided reflection, discussion, scenario-based activities and strategy sharing, leaving with clarity, confidence and practical tools they can use the very next day.

Optional Pre-Session Component - Participants will receive a short reflection prompt prior to the session to help them consider: where they feel confident, where they feel stuck, what resistance or challenges they face, and what support they need from leadership, colleagues or systems.

This ensures the session is grounded in real experiences and maximises the value of face-to-face time.

Outcomes

  • Identify their specific role in embedding respectful relationships across their school
  • Understand how respectful relationships are reinforced in everyday interactions – corridors, classrooms, staff rooms and school culture
  • Surface real barriers (leadership, parent concerns, student attitudes, time constraints) and work through them collaboratively
  • Share and learn practical strategies that are already working in other schools
  • Gain language and confidence to advocate for this work with leadership teams and colleagues
  • Leave with clear, actionable next steps tailored to their own school context
