Description
This hands-on workshop supports schools to confidently embed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations into everyday practice. The session will take you through the 10 principles and invite you to consider each from your school’s perspective.
Participants will reflect on their current practices and walk away with concrete strategies, tools, and insights that they can immediately apply in their own setting. Whether your school is beginning its child safe journey or strengthening existing frameworks, this course provides the clarity and confidence needed to create a culture where every student feels safe, supported, and heard.
Outcomes
By the end of the session participants will:
- Understand the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and what each principle means.
- Identify practical ways their school can meet each principle.
- Use the Self-Assessment Tool and Best Practice Guide to review current practice.
- Clarify what the school is doing well, what needs to happen next, who is responsible, and expected timeframes.
- Share ideas and suggestions with other participants to strengthen child safe practice.

Trish is an experienced educator with a strong professional commitment to holistic education and wellbeing. She holds a Master of Education and a postgraduate qualification in Counselling, combining advanced academic knowledge with extensive practical experience. Trish has held leadership roles across early learning and junior school settings, providing a broad understanding of diverse educational environments. She has designed and led programs focused on parenting, as well as student and staff wellbeing, supporting positive outcomes within school communities.
Frank Italiano (AISWA Staff)
Manager | School Operations Support
Frank brings extensive experience from his leadership roles in large schools and at the system level, including his tenure as a principal. He is known for his proven ability to enhance processes that support school operations. As the Manager of the School Operations Support Team, Frank will oversee services to AISWA schools in the areas of school registration preparation, school governance, compliance with Non-Government School standards, industrial relations, and student safety.
