Description
Many schools are already embracing nature pedagogy, offering outdoor classrooms and programs that spark children’s curiosity, resilience, and wellbeing. But how do we move from isolated programs to a whole-school culture where nature pedagogy is embedded in curriculum, policy, and daily practice?
This full-day professional learning workshop is designed for educators and school leaders who are ready to deepen their practice. Together, we’ll explore:
- How school-wide policies and procedures can nurture and sustain nature pedagogy.
- A playful strategy for supporting teachers and staff, including professional learning and mentoring techniques.
- Approaches to embedding nature pedagogy into curriculum design, aligning with standards while holding true to the philosophy of outdoor learning.
- Practical steps for ensuring consistency, safety, and innovation across year levels.
Drawing on current research, international examples, and lived experience, this workshop blends theory with hands-on reflection, leaving you with concrete strategies to transform your school’s approach from “program” to philosophy.
Outcomes
- Analyse existing school practices to identify enablers and barriers to embedding nature pedagogy.
- Spend time writing and adapting existing school policies and procedures that support outdoor learning.
- Experience an innovative tool for Policy and Procedure communication that builds confidence and sustainability across staff teams within Nature Pedagogy.
- Design curriculum connections that authentically integrate outdoor learning across learning areas.
- Leave with an action framework to implement whole-school change, tailored to their unique setting.
