Year 9 Career Taster Program

In line with the Governments WA Jobs plan, The Year 9 Career Taster Program has been developed to inspire Secondary school students about potential career and further study opportunities and assist them in making more informed decisions on their subject selections and post school options.
The CTP aims to support Year 9 students to become ‘career curious’ and complement the existing career development and taster opportunities already provided by schools and industry.

AISWA will provide grants to cover:

  • Cost of Relief-teaching to cover student ‘Taster Experience Activities excursions
  • Cost for transporting students to and from ‘Taster Experience Activities’ public transport
  • Costs of in school incursions & related projects
  • Personal Protective Equipment for ‘Taster Experience Activities’
  • Online programs to support remote and regional schools
  • Costs of resources or perishables required to run an activity at school

Premier’s Reading Challenge

The theme for the challenge this year is ‘Reading can take you anywhere’. By encouraging students to register and participate, we can give them the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of books and the chance to discover the joys of escaping into the pages of a really good book. The Premier’s Reading Challenge website has an online booklist with over 7,000 titles across all genres and formats. By visiting the website, students can register online, choose their own avatar and log all the books they read over the course of the challenge.
The challenge is for students to read a minimum of 12 books between May and 9 September 2022 and  is open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Students can also add books that may not be on the booklist to count towards their total. For more information please click Here
