Sage School Ltd

Description
We are proposing to establish a small Primary Independent Non-Government School that will welcome students from Kindy to Year 6. The Western Australian Curriculum will be for all learning areas, with an emphasis on the Arts, specifically Media Art. The school will be established on a small block surrounded by rural land within the suburb of Caversham, a rapidly growing suburb with different cultural backgrounds. Sage School will offer a faith-based early learning model that integrates the Western Australian Curriculum with immersive, arts-based pedagogy and Shia faith-informed values education. A defining feature of the model is its comprehensive use of The Arts as a core pedagogical vehicle across all learning areas. Students engage in Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, and Visual Arts not only as discrete subjects but as interdisciplinary learning tools that strengthen literacy, communication, critical thinking, collaboration, confidence, and social-emotional development. This approach aligns with the Australian Curriculum: The Arts (v9.0) and emphasises exploration, creation, performance, documentation, and reflection as pathways to deep understanding and personal growth. The immersive learning design also draws on principles commonly blended with Reggio Emilia–inspired practice. Children are viewed as capable, curious learners and emerging leaders when provided with appropriate guidance and opportunities. Learning is supported through multiple creative languages, including visual art, movement, music, storytelling, and dramatic play, which enable meaning-making and authentic expression. Students document their learning journeys through media production, fostering pride, self-awareness, and confidence, while regular reflective conversations strengthen relational teaching practices. Strong partnerships with families and the wider community further cultivate belonging and shared responsibility for learning. Faith-informed Values • Respect – Honouring the dignity of body, soul, and mind in ourselves and others, including students, classmates, staff, parents, and all people. • Responsibility – Demonstrating accountability for our actions, striving to correct mistakes, and contributing positively to the wellbeing of the community. • Compassion – Acting with kindness, empathy, and justice toward ourselves and others, and being mindful of how our words and actions affect those around us. • Community – Fostering unity, belonging, and mutual care, inspired by the teachings of Imam Ali that people are either our brothers in faith or our equals in humanity, and by the guidance of the Imams to love for others what we love for ourselves.
