Description

This professional learning day supports primary classroom teachers to implement purposeful, high-quality assessment strategies aligned to the SCSA Assessment Principles. Through workshops and collaborative discussion, participants will explore assessment for, as, and of learning; strengthen formative assessment and feedback practices; and apply strategies that ensure assessment is fair, educative, informative and an integral part of teaching and learning. Teachers will also engage with progress maps and approaches that promote equity for EALD learners, building confidence to design assessment that genuinely supports every student's learning in primary school.

Outcomes

  • Apply SCSA Assessment Principles to design fair, educative and inclusive assessment (AITSL 5.1)
  • Use assessment for, as and of learning to inform teaching and support student progress (AITSL 5.1, 5.2)
  • Implement effective formative assessment and feedback strategies to improve learning (AITSL 5.2)
  • Engage in professional dialogue and collaboration with peers (AITSL 6.2, 6.3)
  • Be provided with advice about how to best support EAL/D learners in and beyond the classroom.
