Description
Designed for secondary languages educators, this session provides a comprehensive deep dive into SCSA curriculum familiarisation and effective planning practices. Beginning with a foundational overview of the curriculum structure, intent, and key changes, participants will build a shared understanding before transitioning into language-specific breakout sessions. These smaller groups will enable targeted discussions around pedagogical implications, content sequencing, and assessment adjustments relevant to individual language contexts.
The afternoon includes an interactive workshop facilitated by AISWA consultants, tailored to participant priorities and areas of need. Focus areas may include senior secondary alignment, integration of general capabilities, and the development of rigorous and authentic assessment practices.
Throughout the day, educators will have valuable opportunities for peer networking, collaboration, and professional dialogue. Participants will also receive dedicated individual support from SCSA consultants, as well as hands-on time to develop, refine, and update their secondary planning documentation and classroom resources.
SCSA will pay up to a half day of teacher relief for a maximum of two teachers per school, per learning area. If a school sends only one teacher, relief will be provided for that teacher only.
Outcomes
- Evaluate language-specific curriculum shifts to align current departmental scope and sequences with updated SCSA requirements.
- Design robust, differentiated assessment tasks and learning pathways.
- Construct contextualised teaching resources and planning documents through collaborative networking and targeted consultant feedback.
