Description

Join Alana Walsh and ‘Whisky’ her dog for a practical, hands on workshop that explores contemporary wellbeing approaches supporting students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. Designed for educators and school leaders, the session reviews current best practice in whole‑school wellbeing and examines how evidence‑based strategies can strengthen student engagement, resilience, belonging, and learning outcomes. Participants will investigate a range of age‑appropriate programs and frameworks currently being implemented across schools, with opportunities to reflect on the use of wellbeing data to support decision‑making.

Through collaborative activities and practical planning tools, you will gain actionable strategies that can be adapted to your own context. The workshop also considers the importance of staff wellbeing, student voice, and culturally responsive practices in building positive school communities. By the end of the session, participants will leave with an understanding of effective wellbeing implementation and practical ideas to enhance proactive wellbeing for students across all year levels.

Please note, a support dog will be present for the duration of this session. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to events@ais.wa.edu.au.

Whisky is a 2‑year‑old red cavoodle and TSH’s Chief Happiness Officer and wellbeing pup‑vocate. She has been trained through Western Australian Assistance and Therapy (WAAT) Dogs to work in schools alongside children. Whisky’s happy and calm nature makes her a loved friend at school and in the community. She adores cuddles and chasing her toys.
