Description

Starting a teaching career can be a daunting experience. The AISWA Early Career Teacher program is crafted to empower educators commencing their professional teaching journey. Spanning two days, the program offers early career teachers a chance to foster meaningful connections with peers, while deepening their understanding of key pedagogical strategies and classroom practices. Participants will engage with a variety of resources tailored specifically for early career teachers, enabling them to confidently navigate the transition from graduate to proficient teacher. Through a mix of collaborative workshops, practical sessions, and reflective activities, teachers are encouraged to expand their knowledge, share experiences, and develop their professional identity. The program also focuses on building resilience, and equipping participants with tools to address common challenges faced in the early years of teaching.

Outcomes

  • Enhance understanding of curriculum, pedagogical strategies, and classroom management.
  • Explore a range of teaching approaches for creating inclusive and safe learning environments.
  • Strengthen capacity to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to school communities.
  • Align professional growth with AITSL standards.
