Description

Educators know the transformative power of taking children outside – play flourishes, behaviour shifts, and community deepens. But how do we move from isolated outdoor experiences to embedding nature pedagogy across the rhythms of daily practice and the culture of a whole school or service?

This workshop invites educators to step joyfully into deeper practice. Drawing inspiration from the Universal Map of Connection, participants will explore how daily, seasonal, and energetic cycles can guide planning, programming, and the roles we embody as educators. Through playful engagement, storytelling, and reflective practice, we will consider how to hold space for different children’s energies, using core routines to strengthen both community and resilience and discovering ways to work as a team and share supervision tasks and roles.

Together, we will weave joyful play, connection modelling, and nature pedagogy into a cohesive approach that nurtures children, supports educators, and builds thriving learning communities. This workshop is both a natural “next step” for those already on the journey into outdoor learning and a rich standalone experience for any educator seeking to bring more joy, connection, and intentionality into their work.

Outcomes

• Understand the Natural Cycle as a tool for planning and reflection in outdoor and indoor learning.
• Explore how educator energy, intention, and archetypal roles shape the flow of play and connection.
• Practise core routines and playful strategies that build resilience, belonging, and nature connection.
• Develop skills in connection modelling to strengthen community between children, colleagues, and families.
• Gain confidence in weaving joy, mindfulness, gratitude, and curiosity into everyday pedagogy.
• Leave with practical ideas, activities, and reflective tools to embed deep nature pedagogy across settings.
