Sowilo Community High School is accepting applications for a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our team on a 1 year contract basis (covering parental leave), supporting our CARE school teachers and students in Years 7–12 with diverse and special learning needs.

About the Role

Supports students to re-engage with learning in a nurturing and inclusive manner.

Manage classroom behaviour and support students with behavioural challenges.

Collaborate with our student welfare support team on student wellbeing concerns (e.g. learning difficulties, substance use, social or safety issues).

Support students through extracurricular activities and out-of-class engagements.

Lead electives and after-school programs.

Plan and deliver non-assessed learning activities with support from the Teaching leadership team.

Sowilo Community High School is a small independent CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement) school which aims to prepare young people for their life journey, empowering them to become creative, responsible adults who are able to make a positive contribution to their community. Sowilo offers the Australian high school curriculum tailored to meet individual students’ needs and many exciting enrichment programs including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Aquaponics/Sustainability and Trek excursions.

Experience working with disengaged or at-risk youth is a big plus, and formal qualifications in Education Support (Cert III or IV) or similar are highly regarded.

The role is a FTE 0.6 contract (12 months with possible 12 month extension) commencing Monday 20th April 2026.
