South Coast Baptist College (SCBC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our Secondary School team for the remainder of the 2026 school year.
A contract appointment of 0.7 to 1.0 FTE is available, depending on the skills, experience, and availability of the successful applicant.

About the role
The Secondary English Teacher will deliver engaging and high-quality English programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum. You will foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage meaningfully with a range of texts and perspectives.
Working collaboratively within the English Department, you will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, and the ongoing development of teaching and learning programs that support student success.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum
- Foster students' critical thinking, communication, analytical, and creative writing skills
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Implement effective assessment and classroom management practices
- Collaborate with the Head of English and teaching team on curriculum planning and assessment design
- Integrate technology and contemporary teaching practices to enhance student learning
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues
- Participate in professional learning, faculty meetings, and College activities
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the College community
- Uphold and model the Christian values and ethos of South Coast Baptist College

Essential requirements
- Recognised teaching qualification and eligibility for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA)
- Current Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
- Active participation in a church or Christian community
- Acceptance of the College's Statement of Faith
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College's values and policies
