About the role: School Psychologist

 

 

The School Psychologist position is contracted for the second semester of 2024, offering flexibility in terms of full-time equivalent (FTE), to be finalized in collaboration with the successful candidate. This role welcomes applications from both provisional and fully registered Psychologists with a keen interest in school-based settings.

 

As the School Psychologist, you will assume a pivotal role in providing leadership and support to students and staff across various domains including mental health, wellbeing, student behavior, and learning assistance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in psychological assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and consultation, catering to both individual and group needs within our school community.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Either working towards or holding current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Implementation of psychology services and programs within an educational setting to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Application of diverse psychological approaches for individual, group, and system-level interventions, with an emphasis on implementation and evaluation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, evidenced through correspondence, report writing, case notes, and facilitation of interviews and training sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and across various contexts with clients, College staff, and inter-agency partners.
  • Application of analytical and conceptual skills in issue identification, risk assessment, intervention planning, and evaluation, including proficiency in conducting, interpreting, and reporting on psycho-educational assessments.

  • To actively be a part of a Church or Christian community and exemplify Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices.
  • To accept the College’s Statement of Faith.
  • Build co-operative and supportive relationships with the board, principal, staff, students and parents.
  • Work to ensure personal best practice.
  • Ensure that decision making is based on fact and is impartial and fair.
  • Model the use of appropriate and proper channels of communication.
  • Always act in the best interest of the College and its ethos.
  • Adhering to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
  • First Aid certificate is desirable.
  • Working With Children Card.
