About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities team. This is a full‑time, ongoing position.
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for maintaining school buildings, facilities and grounds to a high standard, undertaking general maintenance, minor construction/carpentry, minor plumbing, and handyman duties as directed by the Lead Maintenance Officer.
The role also includes driving the school bus to transport students between campuses in the morning and afternoon, with the remainder of the day allocated to maintenance duties.
The Facilities team is supportive, friendly and hardworking, with a strong safety culture and a shared commitment to providing a well‑maintained, safe environment for our school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to maintenance requests as prioritised by the Lead Maintenance Officer
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs across both campuses
- Perform minor construction and carpentry works (e.g. stud walls, door modifications)
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs (within scope and qualification requirements)
- Maintain locks, doors, door furniture and cyber locks
- Replace faulty lighting and remove debris from external lighting
- Inspect and clean gutters, downpipes, silt traps and acid traps
- Repair window and insect screens
- Repair furniture, desks, chairs and learning equipment
- Undertake minor wall, ceiling and internal painting works
- Remove graffiti promptly
- Maintain signage across the campuses
- Ensure maintenance sheds are kept clean and tidy
- Assist with the setup and pack‑down of school functions and events
- Supervise and liaise with external contractors when required
- Assist Grounds staff as required
- Lock and secure school buildings during holiday periods and complete holiday safety checks
- Complete maintenance records and follow up outstanding issues
- Undertake any other duties as directed by the Principal, Business Manager, Executive Team or Lead Maintenance Officer
School Bus Responsibilities
- Drive the school bus on a scheduled morning and afternoon route between Meadow Springs and Halls Head
- Ensure the safety of students by enforcing seatbelt use and behaviour expectations
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle safety inspections and complete required checklists
- Maintain vehicle log books and monitor fuel usage, mileage and passenger numbers
- Maintain the bus in a clean and roadworthy condition
- Arrange servicing and attend annual vehicle safety inspections
- Follow all traffic laws and school transport policies
- Respond appropriately to delays, accidents or emergency situations
- Occasionally drive the bus outside scheduled times as required

A forklift ticket and/or building trade qualification (desirable but not essential)
