South Coast Baptist College (SCBC) is seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance & Grounds Officer to join our Maintenance team.
This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining facilities and grounds, and can contribute to a safe and well-maintained environment for staff, students, and the wider College community within a supportive Christian setting.

About the role
Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you will support the day-to-day upkeep of the College’s buildings and grounds.
This includes undertaking general maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, supporting compliance with Workplace Health & Safety requirements, and ensuring the College environment remains safe, functional, and well presented.

Key responsibilities
- Undertake general maintenance and groundskeeping tasks
- Coordinate and liaise with contractors and service providers
- Maintain safe and compliant facilities in line with WHS requirements
- Assist with the upkeep and presentation of College grounds
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and tasks
- Support minor repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance
- Contribute to team tasks and broader College operational needs
About you
- Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a related trade (desirable)
- Strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety practices
- Ability to work independently and show initiative
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach
- Ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks
- Competency with basic computer systems (e.g. email, Microsoft Office)
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence (LR licence and/or bus driving experience desirable)
Essential requirements
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Active participation in a church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices.
- Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith.
- Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents.
- Commitment to personal best practice.
- Ensure decisions are impartial, fact-based, and fair.
- Model appropriate and proper channels of communication.
- Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College’s values and policies.
Possession of the following certifications:
- Working With Children Check
- National Police Clearance
- First Aid Certificate
