The school:
Strelley Community School is a remote Aboriginal Independent Community School located in the picturesque Pilbara region of Western Australia. Founded in 1976, the school proudly stands as the oldest continuously operating Independent Aboriginal Community School in Australia. It functions across two campuses:

Strelley (Yurtingunya): Situated 60km east of Port Hedland.

Warralong (Karntimarta): Located 160km southeast of Port Hedland.
With approximately 60 students from Kindergarten to Year 12, the students are all ESL/EALD learners and from a mainly Nyangumarta language background. We deeply respect and embrace the language, culture, and history of our students and their community, integrating these elements into our learning programs.
The Role:
We are offering a full-time Lower Primary teaching position (Years 2 to 4) at our Warralong campus commencing Term 3 2025. Contract terms are flexible and will be tailored to your availability, whether you prefer a contract for just Semester 2, 2025 or seek greater employment stability with an 18-month contract extending to the end of the 2026 school year.
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you will need to have:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Primary Education.

Current Teacher Registration with TRBWA.

A Working with Children clearance check (or the ability to obtain one).
Additionally, you need to demonstrate:

Your right to work in Australia (Candidates must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work).

A passion for teaching and living in a remote community and a belief that all students can be successful in their learning

Sound curriculum and classroom management knowledge

A commitment to providing a safe school environment.

A willingness to work collaboratively with staff and the community.
Other desirable criteria include:

A current manual Australian Driver’s License.

Experience in teaching Indigenous children.

ESL/EALD teaching experience.

The ability to create and manage a differentiated curriculum.

An attractive renumeration package is offered commensurate with the position.
- Salary range $83,556 to $113,568 per annum (dependent on skills and experience)
- Plus 12 % Super entitlement
