Laboratory Technician/Food Technician (Secondary)

Description

We are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated and innovative Laboratory Technician/Food Technician to join our growing Secondary School community. The position is 0.4 FTE, commencing January 2026.

The Laboratory and Food Technician plays a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across Science and Food Technology. They are responsible for preparing, maintaining, and safely storing equipment, chemicals, and ingredients to ensure practical lessons run smoothly and efficiently. The role involves setting up experiments, demonstrations, and food practicals in line with curriculum requirements, as well as assisting teachers and students during activities to promote safe and effective practice.

The successful candidate will have a solid work ethic and friendly nature. Training for the Laboratory Technician role will be provided.

Austin Cove Baptist College of South Yunderup is a co-educational College that commenced in 2011 and currently has approximately 780 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Essential

•    To have a personal faith and commitment to Jesus Christ including regular church attendance and a lifestyle consistent with the expectations of Christian faith.
•    Have demonstrated experience in the food and/or science areas and hold a Working With Children Check.

Highly Desired Qualities

•    Previous experience in this role is desired but not essential. 
•    Good understanding of health and safety requirements in a laboratory/kitchen and food environment. 
•    Ability to work independently and within a team.
•    Eagerness to learn and have a proactive approach to your work.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Ability to maintain and develop professional and positive relations with all stakeholders.
