About the Role
Play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and beautiful environment for our school community by maintaining and enhancing our grounds and outdoor spaces. This includes presenting the school grounds to the highest standard through proactive cleaning, general maintenance of gardens and equipment, and providing support to the Senior Grounds Person, Business Manager, and Executive Team with a variety of tasks that contribute to the success of our school.
Work collaboratively under the guidance of the Senior Grounds Person, contributing to a team that values excellence, safety, and pride in our school grounds.
Some of the duties the Gardens and Grounds Worker are required to carry out are:

Begin each day by assisting with security disarming and preparing the school for a smooth start, including opening buildings, unlocking walkway and external gates as well as toilets

Maintain gardens to a high standard by:

Keeping garden beds weed-free and clear of debris
-
Removing dead plants and rubbish promptly
-
Applying fertilizer as needed
-
Pruning shrubs and plants with precision, including roses
-

Whipper snipping and rough cutting as required

Contribute to landscaping projects that enhance the school’s outdoor spaces
-
Precision mowing of all ovals and grassed areas, ensuring there are no grass clippings left on pathways in high pedestrian movement areas

Assist with herbicide, pesticide, fertilizer and wetta-soil application
-
Support the daily watering program to keep grounds healthy and vibrant. Regular cleaning of leaves, grass, and rubbish. from paths, walkways, car parks and basketball courts

Ensure verandas and paved areas are clean and well maintained

Move outdoor furniture as required

Prepare and mark ovals and grounds for sporting activities

Set up and clear away for special school functions and moving of furniture and equipment as required

Ensure sheds are always clean and tidy

Ensure all grounds buggies and machinery are cleaned on a regular basis and report any faults to the Senior Grounds Person

Assist with traffic control from 3.00pm each day or as requested for school events

Assist Maintenance Person if required

Any other duties as directed by the Principal, Business Manager, Executive Team members or Senior Grounds Person
