South Coast Baptist College is seeking a friendly and reliable Canteen Assistant to support the daily operations of our College canteen. This role involves preparing and serving healthy food and refreshments to students while ensuring food safety standards are maintained.

 

Working closely with the Canteen Coordinator, the successful applicant will help ensure the smooth and efficient running of the canteen while contributing to a welcoming and positive environment for students and staff.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the College canteen.
  • Prepare and serve food in accordance with FoodSafe WA requirements.
  • Maintain daily records and assist with preparing the canteen for service.
  • Check deliveries and supplies against invoices when required.
  • Assist with daily cash handling and recording of takings with another staff member.
  • Maintain a clean and organised canteen environment, including cleaning benches, shelves and equipment.
  • Support the Canteen Coordinator in maintaining appropriate security procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive and welcoming environment for students, staff and volunteers.

 

Selection Criteria

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enjoys interacting with students and supporting the school community.
  • Warm, friendly and customer service–focused approach.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work efficiently in a busy environment with minimal supervision.
  • Accurate money-handling skills.

  

General Requirements:

  • To have a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • To attend Church on a regular basis and model Christian beliefs, behaviour and practices.
  • To accept the College’s Statement of Faith.
  • Build co-operative and supportive relationships with the board, principal, staff, students and
    parents.
  • Work to ensure personal best practice.
  • Ensure that decision making is based on fact and is impartial and fair.
  • Model the use of appropriate and proper channels of communication.
  • Always act in the best interest of the College and its ethos.
  • Working With Children Card.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by:
  • Following OH&S instructions and policies
  • Reporting accidents and hazards
  • Generally caring for own safety and that of others, including volunteers, students, and parents.
  • First Aid certificate is desirable.
