Description
This 14 hour course teaches adults how to assist adolescents who are experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health problem.
The course is suitable for adults working with adolescents (those aged between 12 and 18 years), however, it can also be relevant for those helping people who are a little younger or older.
Course Content
Participants will learn about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of these mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.

Wendy Vasquez (AISWA Staff)
Senior Psychologist

Wendy Vasquez is an experienced school psychologist who has worked in the Independent Schools sector extensively, utilizing expertise in both psychology and education to address students' social, emotional, behavioural, and learning needs. Wendy is an accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) trainer and has received specialized training in Collaborative Proactive Solutions (CPS) under Dr. Ross Greene.
Since joining AISWA in 2015, Wendy has leveraged her experience from her previous roles at the Non-Government School Psychology Service and TAFE. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with teachers, parents, students and other professionals to foster supportive and inclusive approaches to education and mental health in the school environment.
Wendy's professional interests encompass student and teacher mental health and wellbeing, autism, ADHD, SLD, trauma-aware education, childhood attachment, and parenting.
