Description

This three-day professional learning program is designed to support women in their educational leadership journey. AISWA has partnered with ACEL to deliver this unique opportunity. Whether you are a senior leader or aspiring to become one, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and grow with other successful women. This program immerses participants in effective practices to develop your impact and influence and provides the platform to become a valuable member of a supportive network.

Key themes explored will include: the importance of ongoing professional learning for successful leadership; overcoming the double bind experienced by women in leadership roles; practical tools to advance your leadership journey; and addressing female stereotypes and gender-based barriers. You’ll also be learning with and from like-minded women leaders.

Each participant will receive a copy of the book Step In, Step Up by Jane Kise A. J. and Barbara K. Watterston.

Meika Pfeiffer-Gough is the Leadership and Teaching Excellence Manager at AISWA, part of the Curriculum and School Improvement Directorate. With 19 years of experience as a teacher and leader across diverse PK-12 educational settings, Meika is committed to promoting excellence in teaching and leadership. She highlights the importance of emotional intelligence and relational trust in building strong, respectful connections within school communities, recognizing these as essential for creating positive learning environments and inspiring growth. Passionate about leadership development, Meika works to empower confident, reflective leaders who drive collective success.

Dr. Barbara Watterston

Dr. Barbara Watterston

Barbara is the CEO of ACEL, recognised for her leadership in education and the not-for-profit sector nationwide. She specialises in developing professional learning and leadership programs, championing collaboration throughout the education community. Barbara is a published author and award recipient, noted for her impactful research and advisory roles. Her work spans national and international projects, with a strong focus on leadership development, sustainability, and wellbeing, supporting leaders at every stage to achieve transformative educational outcomes.

Lisa Newland

Lisa Newland

Lisa’s career began as a high school English teacher, progressing to leadership roles including Deputy Principal. She contributed to curriculum reform in South East Queensland and led the transition of Year 7s into high school. At Sentis, Lisa became a neuroscience specialist and developed the IMPACT learning framework. Since 2017, she has directed Sentis Education, supporting over 300 schools to enhance culture and pedagogy, and partners with ACEL to deliver professional learning programs.
