Wade McLeod (AISWA Staff)

Wade McLeod has worked in Education in the past 17 years after stints in the Business, Hospitality & Retail industries and holds the current Diploma of VET & Diploma of Training & Design. His journeys took him to Europe and then China where he taught English as a Second Language for 5 years before deciding to return to Australia. It was then that he made his move into adult education and became a ‘trainer of trainers’ and delivered the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment course. Through this experience he had the opportunity to deliver the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment to secondary school teachers delivering a VET qualification in school. This gave him a great understanding of the plight of teachers and the challenges they faced adapting a VET qualification to suit school conditions. Wade then moved to Jakarta to implement a VET in schools program to schools in Indonesia, which provided him with even greater challenges in how to adapt a VET in schools program into a foreign environment. Once again he returned to Perth to work for Registered Training Organisation’s as a consultant to schools and this resulted in building strong relationships with VET Coordinators & VET teachers in over 100 schools across WA.

Wade joined AISWA in 2014 with a strong focus on building a bridge between industry and schools and raising the profile and growth of VET programs delivered by AISWA schools. His impact has already been felt via a new AISWA funding model, a standalone VET Newsletter, more school visits – in particular more regional visits and a standalone VET web page on the AISWA website.
