Description

The Southwest Secondary Science Curriculum Network is set to be a vibrant hub for science educators across Western Australia’s Southwest, bringing together passionate teachers and leaders from independent, Catholic and Department of Education schools. Designed to foster cross-sector collaboration, the network will provide a space for sharing expertise, resources and effective practices.

At the inaugural meeting, science leaders will engage in purposeful discussions that surface shared priorities, shape the network’s direction and establish a clear, collective vision, laying the groundwork for a responsive network driven by participant needs. Subsequent meetings will offer a platform for collegial discussion, professional collaboration and curriculum updates, and each meeting will be tailored to the interests and priorities of participants. Opportunities to connect with representatives from key education authorities, including SCSA and ACARA, as well as organisations that support science teaching and learning, such as DBCA, ANSTO and curriculum resource providers including the Australian Academy of Science, will further enrich science education across the region.

As the network grows, meetings will be hosted by participating schools on a rotating basis, showcasing local contexts and strengthening community connections.

Outcomes

  • Strengthen cross-sector collaboration by building professional connections among science educators across independent, Catholic and government schools.
  • Share high-quality resources that enhance teaching, learning and assessment practice.
