Description
1 hour online seminar - presented by RTG (Aust), AISWA's official education partner for supporting schools with Digital Privacy, Safety and Security implementation.
Participants will be guided on how to navigate the confusing landscape of data privacy and protection, helping them find the right balance between creating authentic, innovative learning spaces, whilst fulfilling ethical and secure data handling and management practices.
The online workshop will include:
- Consideration towards the use of technology to learn online in response to Covid-19. (The ongoing implications of inviting online applications and software into the classroom without thinking about risks and corresponding mitigation strategies is problematic and needs to be treated extremely sensitively.)
- Informed knowledge about school compliance, plus roles and responsibilities towards state and federal legislation relating to data privacy and security.
- Robust procedures and protocols relating to the protection of digital infrastructure and assets.
- Advisory on school policies and procedures as they relate against Australian Privacy Principles, plus stages of the information lifecycle.
- Insight into how effectively and regularly educational and advocacy programs, promoting safe digital practices and behaviours, are being delivered to school stakeholders.
This session addresses the OAIC’s best practice requirements encompassing:
- The structures supporting staff training around the (a) detection, and (b) reporting of digital threats.
- Help schools prioritise their investment (budget, time, personnel) to improve risk posture.
- Preparedness for data breach incidents and response plans.
- Educate towards and assess potential impacts a data breaches could have on teaching and learning.
- Understand the intent and processes towards managing the response to a data breach and/or digital incident and mitigating risk of a data breach and/or digital incident
In support of schools designing and implementing “Covid Normal” strategies, participants will be offered a scheduled discussion with RTG regarding their school’s needs for scoping an effective risk management program. Participants will be asked to complete a short survey where they can self-nominate current areas of need. Results from this survey data will inform the resources and advisory that is provided from RTG’s Risk Consultancy team.
