Description

Attention Science Coordinators and Science Enthusiasts!

Register for the 2016, 3 day program and become your schools’ professional learning facilitator.

Primary Connections is regarded across Australia as the key resource to support primary teachers in linking science with literacy as well as providing teaching units supportive of the Australian Curriculum Science. Christopher Witt, Literacy Consultant at AISWA is accredited with the Academy of Science to conduct PLF training. The aim of this Primary Connections phase is to enable all schools to have their own school based PLF. This is a great opportunity for schools to have one of their own teachers on site to provide tailored professional development and ongoing support for all staff.

It is also a great opportunity for the Science Coordinator or key person to develop their professional knowledge and experience in curriculum leadership and to develop a partnership with PLF colleagues and the Academy.

The PLF training is a 3-day program. It begins in June (week 10) for 2 full days with a follow up day in term 3 (week 10)

Professional Learning Facilitator Course content includes:

  • Primary Connections and the 5 Underpinning Principles
  • The 5Es approach to teaching Primary Connections
  • Literacy in the context of science teaching and learning
  • Embedding assessment in a teaching and learning cycle
  • Differentiation and how PC units support this
  • Taking on a leadership role
