Presented by two experienced AISWA staff - Diana Currie, Manager Finance, and Nigel Briggs, Industrial and Workplace Relations Consultant, plus an invited guest from Lavan.
Includes lunch and provides an opportunity to network with fellow business managers, senior AISWA staff, and Lavan guest in a relaxed environment.

Diana Currie (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | School Business Management
Diana is the current Consultant, School Business Management, having joined AISWA in June 2019 as the Business Practices and Contracts Manager, and more recently working in the Finance Directorate. Diana is a qualified CPA Accountant, having worked as a Business Manager for a K-12 Day & Boarding school for 15 years.
Nigel Briggs (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | Industrial And Workplace Relations
Nigel joined AISWA in 2017 after 18 years with the Independent Education Union of WA, including 16 as Assistant Secretary (Industrial Relations). He is known for building strong relationships across the education sector and providing reliable, timely advice. At AISWA, Nigel supports member schools on industrial relations, HR and workplace health and safety, and provides guidance on legal matters, including staff and student welfare, duty of care, and discrimination issues.
Ellen Waterman
Ellen is the RBA’s Senior Representative in WA and has been with the RBA for over 10 years where she has worked in a range of roles across Finance, Risk management, Internal Audit and now leads the Bank’s external Liaison Program here in WA. Before joining the Bank, Ellen worked at KPMG in External Audit.
Sharon Payn
Sharon Payn is a partner in Lavan’s Employment, Safety & Education team. Sharon has extensive experience in a wide range of employment matters including workplace relations strategies, redundancies, award compliance, bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct claims. Prior to joining Lavan, Sharon worked in the labour and employment team in a global law firm and various in-house roles. She has commercial experience having worked in the oil and gas industry for 17 years which enables her to provide practical legal advice to clients.
Michael Jensen
Michael advises clients on a wide range of employment and workplace and safety related matters including industrial action, unfair dismissals, employment contracts, negotiating and drafting enterprise agreements, implementing redundancies, equal opportunity and discrimination issues and dealing with workplace safety issues.
Michael regularly provides advice in relation to disciplinary and unfair dismissal proceedings and represents employers in conferences and hearings before the State Industrial Commission, Fair Work Australia, State Administrative Tribunal and the federal courts. Michael is a special consultant in Lavan’s Employment & Safety team. Michael has over 20 years’ experience in employment law. Prior to joining Lavan in 1995, Michael worked in the industrial section of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as an advocate. He has a vast practical and theoretical knowledge of a wide range of legal issues associated with the workplace and the employment of staff, with a particular interest in disability discrimination as it applies to inclusive education.
