Description
Teaching is both rewarding and challenging, with heavy workloads, complex student issues and high expectations from parents often placing considerable demands on classroom teachers. It is essential for middle leaders to recognise workplace pressures and develop a toolkit of strategies to lead psychological safety within the team and support teachers’ wellbeing and resilience.
This professional learning workshop will equip middle leaders with evidence-based strategies to lead and strengthen staff wellbeing, foster resilience and sustain a positive school culture. Through guided reflection and practical frameworks, participants will explore the vital connection between educator wellbeing, student success and effective leadership.
Participants will leave with strategies they can use straight away, to lead the teachers in their team to achieve balance and belonging, resulting in increased collective efficacy within their school.
The significance of developing middle leaders’ skills was highlighted by the 2025 publication of AITSL’s ‘Australian Professional Standards for Middle Leaders’ and this workshop aligns with Standard 1 – ‘Enabling Dispositions’ and 6 – ‘Managing effectively’.
