Session 1 (Morning): Natasha Lester - Letting Your Imagination Runa Away With You: Style, Voice, and Language in Creative Writing
In this session she will touch on writing for joy, the link between style, voice and language, bringing everyone’s individual voice to the page, creating atmospherics in a piece of writing and also include visualisation and imagination activities.
Session 2 (Afternoon): Deb Fitzpatrick – Creating Fiction stories from Real Life Events
Deb will share with you how to create stories from real life events, discussing the importance of the research process but also the way to ensure the story that is produced has the imagination, voice and integrity it deserves.

Natasha Lester
Natasha Lester’s most recent novel, A Kiss from Mr Fitzgerald, was published in April 2016. She is also the award-winning author of If I Should Lose You and What is Left Over, After. The Age newspaper has described her as a 'remarkable Australian talent'. As well as writing books, Natasha also teaches creative writing for the Australian Writers’ Centre.
Deb Fitzpatrick
Deb Fitzpatrick lives and works in Fremantle. She has a Master of Arts (creative writing) from UWA, is a freelance editor and occasionally teaches creative writing and editing at Curtin University. Deb is the author of five novels. Her latest is At My Door, a title for younger readers. The Break (2014) is for adult readers. Her two novels for young adults – 90 Packets of Instant Noodles (2010) and Have You Seen Ally Queen? (2011) – were named Notable Books by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA). The Amazing Spencer Gray (2013), a novel for younger readers, will be published in the US in October 2016.
