Description
The teacher training for the On-entry Assessment Program is now available to schools who have returned an Expression of Interest form to AISWA.
Teachers will need to bring along laptops for these sessions to log onto the Department of Education website.
The On-entry Assessment program is an assessment for learning, rather than an assessment of learning. It enables teachers to develop an authentic understanding of a child’s current capabilities and needs.
The purpose of the assessment:
• To provide the classroom teacher with information about the skills and understandings that their students bring to compulsory schooling
• To identify, early in the school year, students who may require intervention, consolidation or extension
• To inform the planning and delivery of targeted programs, reflective of each child’s needs and capabilities
The information is also expected to assist in the development of intentional teaching for play-based programs reflective of student needs.
