Description

This targeted professional learning session supports educators of Visual Arts and Media in confidently exploring and embedding recent curriculum updates within their subject areas. Participants will begin with an introductory SCSA Curriculum Familiarisation Overview, establishing a shared understanding of key changes, expectations, and underlying principles. Following this, educators will move into subject-specific cohorts to closely examine unique planning considerations, content structures, and pedagogical approaches relevant to Visual Arts and Media contexts.

The final session features a practical workshop facilitated by AISWA, centred on priority curriculum implementation topics aligned with the Curriculum Support Framework. This component allows participants to explore areas such as assessment design, curriculum alignment, and effective classroom application.

Throughout the day, teachers will benefit from networking with discipline peers, engaging in professional dialogue, and sharing best practices. They will also have access to one-on-one support from SCSA consultants, alongside dedicated time to refine and update planning documents and teaching resources.

SCSA will pay up to a half day of teacher relief for a maximum of two teachers per school, per learning area. If a school sends only one teacher, relief will be provided for that teacher only.

Outcomes

  • Review curriculum changes to make sure secondary Arts programs match updated SCSA standards.
  • Create teaching and learning resources that meet the practical and theoretical needs of the new framework.
  • Update school planning documents using peer feedback and direct advice from curriculum experts.
