Description
This professional learning session supports primary languages educators in confidently navigating upcoming curriculum updates and strengthening their classroom practice. Delivered in partnership with SCSA and AISWA, the day begins with a comprehensive SCSA Curriculum Familiarisation Overview, providing participants with a clear understanding of key changes, expectations, and underlying curriculum intent. This is followed by a collaborative workshop where educators will explore essential knowledge, planning considerations, and practical approaches to effective implementation within primary language contexts.
AISWA consultants will then facilitate a targeted curriculum support workshop tailored to attendee priorities, allowing for deeper exploration of specific areas of need. Throughout the session, participants will engage in structured networking opportunities, fostering professional dialogue and shared learning. Educators will also receive individualised support from consultants and will have dedicated time to actively collaborate, adapt existing planning documents, and refine teaching resources for immediate and meaningful classroom application.
SCSA will pay up to a half day of teacher relief for a maximum of two teachers per school, per learning area. If a school sends only one teacher, relief will be provided for that teacher only.
Outcomes
- Analyse curriculum updates and SCSA guidelines to identify key implications for primary language programs and instructional design.
- Formulate practical planning frameworks and assessment tools that seamlessly integrate cross-curricular priorities and general capabilities.
- Collaborate with peer networks and system consultants to refine and adapt current teaching and learning resources for immediate classroom use.
