Description
This workshop equips Performing Arts educators with the essential knowledge and practical tools required to successfully implement curriculum updates across Dance, Drama, and Music. The session begins with a comprehensive SCSA Curriculum Familiarisation Overview, providing a clear understanding of key changes, expectations, and curriculum intent. Participants will then engage in collaborative planning and knowledge-sharing discussions, grouped by specific subject areas where possible, to explore targeted pedagogical approaches and subject-specific considerations.
AISWA will deliver a tailored curriculum support framework workshop designed to address the group’s highest-priority needs, enabling deeper exploration of implementation strategies and effective practice. Throughout the day, educators will benefit from meaningful networking opportunities, fostering professional connections and shared learning. Participants will also receive individualised guidance from SCSA consultants and have dedicated workshop time to actively review, refine, and develop teaching resources and planning documents to support effective classroom implementation.
SCSA will pay up to a half day of teacher relief for a maximum of two teachers per school, per learning area. If a school sends only one teacher, relief will be provided for that teacher only.
Outcomes
- Interpret SCSA curriculum changes to identify core knowledge and developmental milestones across primary Arts disciplines.
- Adapt current primary Arts planning documents and units of work to reflect updated curriculum standards and frameworks.
- Leverage professional networks and expert consultant feedback to design innovative, practical teaching resources for immediate classroom implementation.

Simon is a specialist in artificial intelligence, Technologies, digital literacy, and ICT across the curriculum. He holds a Master of Education by Research degree (Education Leadership) and is a doctoral candidate.
