This hands-on session presents a variety of different generative AI tools and platforms that you could use to streamline your workflow. We will touch on how generative AI works and, guided by your input, explore a range of use cases.
Bring a laptop or tablet device along and learn how you can make the best use of this game-changing technology.
The second component of this event will be facilitated by AISWA's Industrial Relations Consultant, Nigel Briggs.
Outcomes
- Gain a working understanding of contemporary AI tools to help your workflow.
- Watch AISWA AI specialist manipulate AI tools to produce a number of workable solutions.
- Develop an understanding of how these tools can assist and improve productivity in your areas of work in your school by engaging with the facilitator's worked examples.
- Gain insight into current legal issues facing schools, including the use of AI and the associated risks and ethical considerations.
- Attendees will depart from the event having established valuable connections with fellow Business Managers who share similar interests, as well as with the AISWA Industrial Relations Consultant and legal representative from Lavan.

Diana Currie (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | School Business Management

Diana is the current Consultant, School Business Management, having joined AISWA in June 2019 as the Business Practices and Contracts Manager, and more recently working in the Finance Directorate. Diana is a qualified CPA Accountant, having worked as a Business Manager for a K-12 Day & Boarding school for 15 years.
Simon Fittock (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | Curriculum

Simon is a specialist in artificial intelligence, Technologies, digital literacy, and ICT across the curriculum. He holds a Master of Education by Research degree (Education Leadership) and is a doctoral candidate. Simon has a keen interest in educational practice and has professional experience in Australia and abroad. He has developed his expertise through work as a teacher, academic and consultant.
Nigel Briggs (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | Industrial And Workplace Relations

Prior to joining AISWA in 2017, Nigel was an officer with the Independent Education Union of WA for 18 years. 16 years of those as Assistant Secretary (Industrial Relations).
During that time, Nigel focussed on developing strong professional working relationships with Employees, Employers and key sector participants. His key objective was to provide consistent, accurate and timely advice and advocacy.
Since joining AISWA Nigel has been responsible for providing advice and support to member schools on all things relating to Industrial Relations, Human Resource matters and Workplace Health and Safety. He assesses and advises on ‘conflicting’ issues (e.g. industrial issues and staff welfare; duty of care and discrimination; behaviour management and discrimination; student welfare and rights as well as staff welfare and rights).
Nigel supports schools on any issue that may have legal implications.
Jane Schwarzinger (AISWA Staff)
Consultant | Policy, Industrial And Workplace Relations

Jane is AISWA’s Policy, Industrial and Workplace Relations Consultant, with expertise in policy development, governance, compliance, and employment law within the independent school sector. She provides strategic advice and practical support to school leadership teams on a broad range of legal and industrial matters, including workplace relations, staff management, and legislative obligations.
Holding a Bachelor of Laws and a Certificate in Investigative Services, Jane also brings qualifications in training, business, and occupational health and safety. Her multidisciplinary skill set enables her to deliver clear, tailored guidance that supports schools in navigating complex regulatory environments and implementing effective, compliant practices.
