Description

The AISWA Teaching Innovation Fellowship is a hands-on professional learning program that supports teachers to design, test and refine an innovation that improves learning in their classrooms. Across four in-person workshop days and two online Community of Practice sessions, Fellows move through an innovation cycle—Imagine, Design, Experiment and Evolve—working collaboratively to explore evidence, prototype new ideas and reflect on impact. Facilitated by Professor Glenn Savage, the Fellowship empowers teachers as leaders of change, strengthening their capacity to design context-specific solutions and contribute to a network of innovation across independent schools. Participants will be supported through face to face workshops and online check ins.

By completing the AISWA Teaching Innovation Fellowship, participants will achieve a rich and diverse set of professional learning outcomes that are strongly aligned with the Australia Professional Standards for Teachers and the newly endorsed Australian Professional Standards for Middle Leaders.

Places are limited and will be offered through a selection process based on an Expression of Interest. This approach allows us to ensure a diverse mix of schools from across the state, giving a broad range of communities the opportunity to benefit.

Outcomes

  • Learn to innovate through designing and implementing a classroom innovation that addresses a real problem or opportunity.
  • Build evidence literacy by gathering, analysing and using data to refine their project.
  • Strengthen skills in strategic design, planning and change leadership.
  • Enhance student outcomes using strategic design methods to develop an innovation related to engagement, academic achievement, wellbeing or other area of interest.
  • Learn collaboratively within a multi-school community of practice and expand professional networks.
  • Strengthen leadership capabilities by designing a project from conception through to implementation.
