Description
This AISWA Inspire event explores the early stages of AI adoption across Western Australian Independent schools. Dylan Wiliam will examine how educators can prepare young people to thrive in an unpredictable, AI-influenced future. Wiliam will argue that while higher levels of achievement are increasingly necessary, this cannot come at the cost of narrowing the curriculum or dampening students’ intrinsic motivation to learn. He will highlight the role of formative assessment in creating more inclusive, engaging, and responsive classrooms and explore how AI might support, rather than replace, effective teaching, urging school leaders to focus improvement efforts where they will have the greatest impact without overburdening teachers.
Following the keynote, AISWA member schools will share practical insights from their journeys into AI integration. These short presentations will focus on developments across three domains: governance, leadership, and practice. Schools will reflect on key milestones, challenges, and lessons learned as they navigate the opportunities and complexities of AI in education. Participants will gain a clearer picture of what early adoption looks like in real-world settings, with space for dialogue, collaboration, and inspiration for their own contexts.
Outcomes
• Discover innovative practices in AI adoption within education
• Consider the possibilities of education in a rapidly changing world, focusing on effective teaching and meaningful assessment
• Learn actionable strategies for AI adoption and effective assessment
• Network with peers and learn from the experiences shared by other independent schools.
