Description
This workshop provides middle years teachers with practical and engaging literacy strategies that can be adapted across learning areas. The classroom activities are interactive and open-ended and designed to maximise student participation and success.
'Adolescent Engagement Through Literacy' is a workshop designed to give teachers a repertoire of open-ended classroom activities that maximise student engagement. These activities have been designed to support struggling students and also extend high achieving students. They also scaffold the learning for EALD students.
Participants will receive a handout of the teaching strategies that they will be able to implement immediately into their teaching, learning and assessing program. This will include literacy activities that give more responsibility to the students in a more social and interactive way that raises the level of engagement. These teaching tools cover a range of oral language, reading, writing and also assessment approaches. Implementing these strategies will add rigour to your teaching as well as making it fun and energising for your students.
