Independent Schools in Western Australia employ in excess of 7,000 teachers and approximately 2,000 ancillary staff. To work in Western Australia, all teachers must be registered with the Western Australian Teacher Registration Board (TRB).
AISWA is not an employing agency for its member schools, nor does it have any part in the selection and appointment of teachers to positions in Independent Schools. All appointments are handled entirely by the individual school. All Jobs at AISWA are also advertised on our website.
At the end of July each year, the association runs a free three-hour Teaching in an Independent School seminar which provides information for individuals interested in working within the Independent Schools sector. Details of the seminar and other professional learning opportunities offered by AISWA can be found via AISWA's Professional Learning calendar.

Other Advertised Independent School Positions
Independent Schools generally advertise positions online via websites such as SEEK or teachers.on.net and/or in the daily State or National newspapers. Applicants should respond to these advertisements directly if they wish to be considered.
The Perth daily newspaper The West Australian is the most utilised, with some senior positions advertised in the national daily newspaper The Australian. For overseas applicants, copies of these newspapers may be available through State or Commonwealth offices in their respective countries.
Overseas and interstate applicants are advised that most appointments are made only after a personal interview with the school and that employment is restricted to those with the required immigration status. Inquiries about the latter should be directed to the nearest Australian consulate or embassy.
