Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre Open for Excursions (Operated by WA Gould League)

After extensive renovations, the Herdsman Lake Discovery Centre (operated by WA Gould League) is now open to school excursions for all year levels. Situated on the edge of the largest lake on the coastal plain, Herdsman Lake is a world-class wetland in the heart of Perth.

Excursions offer opportunities for learners to work with environmental scientists and educators to conduct hands-on environmental investigations and/or participate in a range of Indigenous learning activities conducted on the banks of Noogenboro (Herdsman Lake). Pre and post excursion resources are aligned to SCSA Judging Standards and are freely available as digital or printable resources. Excursion bookings can be made Here

Insect Investigators – Opportunity for Regional Schools - Registrations close 15 October

There is a great opportunity for Regional Schools to participate in a Free Citizen Science Project called Insect Investigators and all regional schools are invited to participate. Schools that are chosen to be part of the project will run a Malaise Trap, which catches flying insects, in an area of native vegetation on or near their school. With the help of scientists, schools will learn about the insects they catch, and may even discover new species!

Schools who are interested can apply by 15 Oct 2021 directly through this website: Here
