Wellbeing Coordinator

We are a Non-Denominational, Independent Primary School in Hamilton Hill.   We have a strong community focus and parents are involved in and support all aspects of the school. Our aim is to provide a holistic education tailored to meet each child's individual needs.The Wellbeing Coordinator position is 12-hours per week and flexible in nature. We are happy to negotiate hours and days of work and can be flexible with days. This position would suit parents with school aged children however we welcome applications from all suitably qualified people.Key responsibilities include:·         Facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of wellbeing policies and practices·         Coordinate whole school programs that are relevant to wellbeing·         Develop and deliver small group and class programs to support building resilience and knowledge in areas of health and wellbeing·         Facilitate and support student led wellbeing groups and initiatives·         Provide 1-1 counselling, group counselling and debriefing to students and staff·         Perform risk assessment of students in mental health crisis·         Attend and participate in case conference meetings as requested·         Liaise with outside resource groups to provide support and programs as required·         Train, mentor and support staff to deal with student management and critical incidents·         Provide assistance to parents and students in encouraging positive relationships within the classroom, among their peers and at home.·         Maintain accurate student case notes Key Skills and Attributes:·         Experience working in a primary school environment·         Ability to be self-motivated to prioritise and meet deadlines·         Demonstrated ability to determine strategies, set goals, create and implement action plans and evaluate the process and results·         Experience assessing cases to determine urgency and risks; ability to make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the school·         High level communication skills and proficiency with Office 365 suite·         Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others·         Ability to initiate and foster relationships internally and externally Selection CriteriaEssential:1.       Experience working in a primary school environment2.       Recognised through formal ordination, commissioning, recognised religious qualifications or endorsement by a recognised or accepted religious institution3.       Holds minimum qualification requirements:·         a Certificate IV in Youth Work;·         a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care;·         a Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care;·         an equivalent qualification (as determined by the States); and this Certificate or equivalent qualification must include competencies in 'mental health' and 'making appropriate referrals'.Desirable:·         Anti-bullying and cyber-bullying training·         Suicide Intervention Training and Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. Application should include:1.       Covering letter2.       Short statement addressing key skills, attributes and selection criteria (maximum three A4 pages)3.       Curriculum Vitae4.       Contact details of two refereesPlease contact Melissa Kennedy via phone 08 93351471 or email principal@kerrystreet.wa.edu.au for enquiries related to this position.Applications should be submitted via Seek by no later than 4pm Friday, 9th of April, 2021.KSCS reserves the right to interview prior to the closing date.All candidates for roles at KSCS are subject to screening and assessment against child safety standards as part of our recruitment process.
