CAPS (Christian Aboriginal Parent-directed School) is a K-12, co-education Christian school with boarding facilities for years 7-12, located in Coolgardie, 38km from Kalgoorlie. 

Our Christ-centred learning community has a strong tradition of positive education for Indigenous students and is committed to fostering spiritual growth and equipping each student to fulfil their dreams and influence their communities. 

We are recruiting for the following positions for the 2022-2023 academic year. 

  • Full-time high school Humanities & Social Science (HASS) Teacher (1.0 FTE) 
  • Primary classroom teacher/Primary Coordinator (1.0 FTE)
  • Outdoor education teacher (1.0 FTE)

 You will be required to: 

  • Foster a positive learning environment to enhance student development and achievement. 
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents, and contribute to the school and wider community through extra-curricular involvement, guided by Christian values and ethos. 
  • Build rapport and communicate well with Aboriginal students and the community.

  • WA Working with Children Check (WCC) 
  • Up to date CV, including the details of a minimum of two referees at principal/deputy/head-of-department level and one from your church pastor.

Job descriptions 

HASS Teacher  

You will be required to: 

  • Plan, teach, assess, and report on secondary WA Humanities and Social Science curriculum 
  • Lead in professional development of various HASS courses  
  • Plan, teach, assess, and report on the various HASS classes 
  • Conduct HASS meetings termly or semesterly to evaluate teaching programs and student achievements  
  • Organise and present HASS - based excursions, incursions, and field work  
  • Plan, teach, assess, and report on Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) at Years 11 and 12 

Primary Classroom Teacher & Primary School Co-Ordinator 

You will be required to: 

  • Plan and coordinate the teaching of WA mandated curriculum at primary level (K – Year 6)
  • Teach a primary level class 
  • Oversee the primary school behaviour management 
  • Plan and coordinate primary camps, excursions and incursions  
  • Work with the Principal in revising school policies  
  • Plan professional development for primary school teachers  
  • Coordinate and report on Australian Early Childhood Development (AEDC) Census. 
  • Coordinate Early Childhood Anchor Text Project 
  • Coordinate Brightpath program 
  • Coordinate Quality Improvement Plan and National Quality Standards in Early Childhood  
  • Organise the primary morning and afternoon assemblies 
  • Coordinate On Entry Assessment at primary level  

Outdoor Education Teacher  

You will be required to: 

  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents, and contribute to the school and wider community through extra-curricular involvement guided by Christian values and ethos. Run the school Outdoor Education program, through on campus classes and planning & implementing camps 
  • Coordinate the Cadets WA Bushrangers program. 
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and risk minimisation 
  • Maintain equipment and preparation required for Outdoor Education programmes
  • Have experience leading students in outdoor recreation environments.
  • Current First Aid and CPR (remote or wilderness level desirable) 
  • Valid driver’s licence (LR or MR desirable) 
  • Ability to review and maintain outdoor education industry best practice in risk management
