About Studio Schools of Australia Ltd
Studio Schools of Australia (SSA) was established in 2019 to bring about a “system” level change in secondary education for Indigenous students in remote communities across northern Australia. This “system level” reform is based on well-established evidence of what works for Indigenous students, their families and communities, in a scalable, proven work-related model of education introduced at the Yiramalay / Wesley Studio School in the Kimberley, Western Australia, in 2010.
SSA’s mission is to enable Indigenous students to lead their own advancement and to take a valuable and meaningful place in their own communities and within Australia.

Overview
The Program Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality program of events, experiences, and activities that enrich the residential boarding experience for students.
Working closely with the Wellbeing Services Coordinator, staff, and community partners, the Coordinator ensures programs promote personal growth, health and wellbeing, resilience, leadership, community engagement, teamwork, and enjoyment. Activities may include on-country excursions, horse riding, sporting competitions, house challenges, trivia nights, and leadership initiatives.
The role typically requires after-school, evening, and weekend work, according to operational needs. The position reports to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement a residential activities program that enhances student wellbeing during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, students, and community partners to ensure balanced and engaging programs.

Ensure all activities comply with school policies and procedures, with a focus on health, safety, supervision, and risk management.

Embed the principles of the SSA Learning Framework into all aspects of the activities program.

Support the school’s on-country, experiential approach to learning and curriculum delivery.

Provide relevant feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement and development for inclusion in reports.

Communicate effectively with students and staff regarding upcoming activities using school communication platforms.

Collaborate with administrative staff on logistics, record-keeping, and as needed.

Undertake additional responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the Principal or leadership team.
Skills and Capabilities

Strong understanding of and respect for Aboriginal culture, with experience working with Aboriginal students and communities.

Proven ability to lead engaging outdoor, recreational, or sports-based activities for young people.

Empathy, maturity, and the ability to serve as a positive role model for adolescents living away from home.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, including confidence in group facilitation.

Competence in administration and the use of technology to support planning, scheduling, and communication.
Desirable

Manual driver’s licence and experience operating 4WD vehicles, or willingness to undertake accredited training.

Current First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain through an accredited course.

Experience in youth work, community engagement, or pastoral care.
Qualifications

Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Sport and Recreation, Education Support, or equivalent experience.

Tertiary qualifications in Education, Social Sciences, Sport & Recreation Management, or a related field (desirable).

Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and delivering structured activities or programs for young people.
