Santa Maria College is a leading Catholic girls' school, founded by the Sisters of Mercy with 1,280 students in Years 5 -12 including 150 boarders.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Outdoor Education Teacher. The successful applicant will be an innovative teacher who will inspire our students.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Outdoor Education Teacher with the ability to teach Year 11 and/or 12 General Outdoor Education. Potential to coordinate a year group and experience in leading expeditions is an advantage.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic and committed Physical Education team.
The role is a full-time one year fixed term position, commencing Term 1 2024.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of and commitment to the ethos and values of Catholic and Mercy education
- Passion for the outdoors and a willingness to assist in preparing, leading or participating in camps and expeditions.
- Capacity for innovative, engaging teaching and learning
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff and parents
- Highly developed ICT skills
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Appropriate teacher qualifications
- Eligibility for teacher registration in Western Australia
- Working With Children Check
QUALIFICATIONS (OR WILLINGNESS TO OBTAIN)
- Flat water canoeing
- Skippers Ticket
- Bus licence (MR or HR)
- Snorkelling guide
- Roping qualification
DESIRABLE
- Aquatic trainer and assessor
- First aid trainer and assessor (Certificate IV)
- Experience with Consent to Go
- Experience writing risk management plans
- Liaising with external providers
